Our Students

Student Wellbeing

At THPS, we think about wellbeing differently. We believe that one of the most powerful things we can do for a child’s confidence and sense of self is to teach them well. When students experience genuine success in their learning, when they can read a word they couldn’t read last week or solve a problem they found difficult yesterday, that feeling builds something in them that no standalone wellbeing program can replicate. Achievement is motivating, and motivation is sustaining.

That does not mean we ignore the rest. We pay close attention to how our students are travelling socially and emotionally, and we take seriously our responsibility to help them develop into decent, capable people. We teach a Personal, Social and Character Curriculum explicitly, including how to manage themselves, relate well to others, and contribute positively to the people around them. We have high expectations for behaviour and manners, not because we are old-fashioned, but because we think those things matter and that children rise to what is expected of them.

When students do need additional support, our wellbeing team is here. But our first line of wellbeing is a well-run classroom, a teacher who knows their students, and a school day with consistent, predictable routines to support learning.

We can’t wait to welcome you

We’ve received your request and our team will be in touch shortly to confirm the details. We look forward to welcoming you to Templestowe Heights Primary School and showing you around our learning community.
